MUMMY AND ME :THE FIRST YEAR

An innovative service dedicated to supporting both mothers and their babies through the pivotal first year after birth.

The first year

For baby - The first year of life is crucial for babies because it sets the foundation for their physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development.  In a babies first year of life a babies brain doubles in size and in the first three years of life a child forms 1 million neural connections per second! Babies are amazing! However its our job as parents to set up the environment that fosters strong development.  As physiotherapists we focus on a babies gross motor development which are the first things a baby learns to do - hold their head up, roll up, sit up, crawl, stand and walk.  From this solid foundation a baby can continue to build on their development.

For mum - The first year after birth is a time of significant physical, emotional, and psychological changes. Your body is recovering and healing from pregnancy and delivery.  You are learning to bond and attach to this beautiful baby and figuring how what all their different cries mean and how to meet their needs.  Support and physical recovery are essential for a mum in the first year after birth.

We use physio led pilates and gentle exercise to support and help a mum through this first year after birth.
