ASSESSMENT PROCESS
Designed to provide a clear understanding of your child's abilities and struggles as well as your concerns and goals for your child
Initial Assessment will be in two parts, the first is a phone or video call, whatever you are comfortable with. This is to discuss what your main concern is for your child along with a developmental history. We will also talk about what your child struggles with, what you feel their strengths are, and what your main goal is for your child. I like to have this conversation with parents without children present as it gives parents freedom to express their concerns.
The second part of the assessment takes place in your own home. I will take the information you have given me to have a look at your concerns and also do a full gross motor assessment with your child. I will also look at their posture, range of movement, muscle strength, quality of movement, and find out from them any tasks they feel are difficult. We will also discuss some goals you and your child have together.
I will then work on a treatment plan for your child which will include a home movement plan with exercises, games or activities which will help your child reach their goal and full potential. We can agree on a plan together of how often your child needs to be seen and what is a realistic timeframe in which to meet your goals and see improvements.
